FTW.

it's high time we boot the hierarchy out of Washington. I think Texas is doing an awesome job with voting in State Sovereignty.

so how did all of your cities do with their little "tea parties" today? My city (Syracuse, NY) had "nearly one hundred people" show up...far cry from the thousands they expected.

same stuff, bigger pile...what a joke

I'm sure the large cities will do just fine. Gauging the rest of the country on Syracuse isn't exactly a great comparison.

I'm most definitely not gauging anything on Syracuse haha....merely commenting on what a hole CNY has turned into. I'm sure, though, it's not to far off from much of the rest of the nation...ie: lots of bitching, little action.

Exactly, that why these ass bags get re-elected. Politicians could care less about any tea party, vote them out, that is the only way they will ever get the message.

They are no longer in power so they figure they will do the next best thing try and stage a demonstration that shows America is tired of politicians *cough* Democrats *cough*. I will bet you anything that if McCain would have won the election and done the exact same things that Obama has done there would be no talk of tea parties. Republicans are trying to scare the government and the public into implementing their ideas hinting that they will stage a revolt against the government if they don't, because that is what they are trying to say right, quit spending money and trying to fix the economy or we will overthrow you like we did the British. Give me a break, guess what, the Republicans lost the election, they have a overall approval rating of 28% and GOP leaders have a 43% approval rating from party members. Obviously the majority of Americans have spoken, Republican policies have failed us as a nation and people are tired of it, go have your tea parties because in the end the majority does not back the ideals of the Republican party nor do they agree with the idea that we need Republican leadership to save the country. So get out your Republican handbook and dig out a stock "you are blind", "you are a sheep", "drink some more Kool-aide", "main stream media is against us" or a good ole "you don't believe the same tings I do so you must be stupid" retort. Hopefully the Republican party does die soon, so we can replace it with the Libertarian party as our second major party.

Bold italics highlight exactly what it is that you don't get. This, more than anything else you've posted in recent months, exhibits just how much you don't understand things. These tea parties are not Republicans, Libertarians, Independants, Constitutionalists, or any political party at all. They are grass-roots, non-partisan. People from all walks of life are getting pissed off at what's being done to our country, and they want all of the politicians to get the message.

As for the rest of your quote, it's just a huge outpouring of fail. It proves that you have no idea what is brewing in this country, and why. The GOP is not gaining ground right now because they're not getting their sh!t together and sticking to the principles (as a group) that the party, and this country, was founded on. You will quickly find out that this outrage is not a minority, because of the fact that it's not just one political party. Similar to the beginnings of this country, there is a genuine shared disgust with pretty much everything going on in the government right now. There are both Republicans and Democrats that need to go. That being said, the path we are heading down right now is being lead by the Democrats, and they are going to shoulder the majority of the losses in 2010. If the GOP doesn't come together on a conservative plan and message, I wouldn't be surprised to see a bunch of independant and/or third party candidates win.

FrostySunfire wrote:so how did all of your cities do with their little "tea parties" today? My city (Syracuse, NY) had "nearly one hundred people" show up...far cry from the thousands they expected.

Think of what Syracuse was, and what it is now, and you'll understand why. Syracuse was once a huge industrial city, with lots of manufacturing jobs. It has, for the most part, become very poor, due to factories closing. (side note: before anyone *cough*MRGW*cough* starts ranting about the tax incentives for moving jobs out of the country, the reason for these closings was because of the ever-increasing tax burdens the state puts on companies). There is a huge percentage of the population who are getting hand-outs. Why would any of them be protesting?

Quickilkav, I must disagree about the Dems shouldering future political losses.

1) O.B.ama is black + he's cool+ probably getting some strange on the side.

2) Dems have a win-win situation here. If the economy rebounds, O.B.ama and Co. will take credit for it as proof of his genius... However, if his policies fail, we will once again be subjected to commercials of "8 years of failed Bush republican policies cannot be fixed overnnight, and we are still suffering the aftereffects of his mismanagement"

3) See #1.

There were a few that didn't get a great turn out, but it's a demographics issue more than anything. The majority of them had thousands. I saw a report that at least one of them had over 10,000 people.

This looks like a weak turnout, huh?:

^^^ I wished they would have taken polls to see who was Repub, who was Dem, and who was "other"... and just how many of these people that showed up voted for Obama.

I bet the numbers would have been surprising. everyone wants to say that all these people are just complaining that Obama won. I don't think that's the case at all.

Hahaha amazing. Didn't see that coming a mile away.

Cracks me up, anyone who has an opinion that does not follow yours to the T is either stupid or ill-informed. How do you fit through doorways with a head that big? Is it a huge responsibility to be the foremost political authority in the country?

The county was not founded on Republican principals. It was founded on the idea that all men are created equal and the we have the right to the pursuit of happiness. Republicans believe these ideals only apply to upper class people that believe in God and donate money to support their political agenda.

This "outrage" is a minority. For it to be a majority there would have had to been over 150 million people at these tea parties yesterday, was their even 1 million total across the country? They have allot of work to do to become a majority.

There has been a shared disgust with our government since the early 80's, doesn't really matter though because the public still elects these ass bags. Thats the crux of the problem, until we get career politicians out of government, nothing will change.

The Democrats will only shoulder the majority of losses if the GOP finds a way to revitalize their base, until they get rid fringe elements that run the party and distort their message this will not happen. Third party candidates will not gain any ground because people still believe for the most part it is a waste of a vote.

I realized years ago that there is no such thing as a career politician that cares about anything but themselves, you on the other hand still believe Republicans are on your side and willing to represent your views, that is the biggest badge of fail and you wear it proudly. Of course you will laugh at this post and tell me how blind I am and how full of fail my post is and how no one but you knows what is really "going on" because I don't agree with you but thats fine. I won't change your opinion and you won't change mine.

Funny how a non-partisan movement is ran by former Republican House Majority Leader Dick Armey, the only speaker at one of these tea parties I read about was a Republican and it was promoted by Shean Hannity and he even did a broadcast form the Atalnta tea party. Sounds non-partisan to me.

Fox had shows at 4 "tea parties", so what's the problem? A republican speaks at one of thousands of these gatherings and all of a sudden they're completely discredited?

Funny how all the left media immediately belittle's what people are trying to do. I believe it was the SF Times that literally called people idiots. Yet, when people like ACORN and the left protest something, it's immediately credable.

For example, the "protests" of AIG bonuses, that were actually deferred payment(but leave it to the left to misrepresent what really happened)................Ya, those protests were by ACORN, and people affiliated by ACORN. Yet the media says "look at these normal everyday citizens protesting". That gets immediate coverage by every media source known to man. And no one asks the question, who's paying for this? Oh that's right, it's the govt funding that we the tax payers are paying for, all the while these idiots protest to get the "bonuses" back using unconstitutional means.

Talk about hypocritical.

Or how about another thought.....the DHS releasing a report that describes damn near every conservative as a "right wing extremist".

If you believe in smaller govt.......right wing extremist

if you believe in less spending............right wing extremist

if you believe in freedom..................right wing extremist

If you support a third party candidate...............right wing extremist

That sounds pretty non-partisan. My guess is the right came up with all these definitions

am I concerned about how the government is spending MY money? yes.

am I concerned about how my state is spending MY money? yes.

am I concerned about WHO exactly makes up Obama's cabinet and his "aides"? yes.

am I concerned about the job the president is doing? yes.

do I care if it's Obama, McCain, or anyone else? no.

call me a right-wing radical. Quickcav said they were non-partisan demonstration, and I say they are not. You can't have it both ways, Dick Armey saying it is a non-partisan group when all the speakers and endorsers of the group are Republican, give me a break. Let them protest and let them have their demonstrations. Hinting to overthrow the government and or threatening to succeed from the union is just as much if not more damaging to democracy than what the current administration is doing to the country. They should go about it the right way, vote the idiots out of office. We just had the opportunity less than 6 months ago and the american people failed to do it. So I say to all these whinny ass cry babies, get your word out and change the way people vote, if you can't do that then sorry about your luck, after all it is majority rule, not the loud mouth minority rule by way of threats. Why didn't they hold all these protests BEFORE the election, maybe then we wouldn't be in this situation. The first bailout was before the election so why not act then, why wait till now? Wait till the next election cycle and vote your guys back in so they can have a anther go round at running this country into the ground, just like the Bush administration and the Obama administration. Follow this movement and your setting the country up for further damage at the hands of Republicans. When there is a truly non-partisan movement to truly change the way our government is run and not a movement that is backed by Republicans saying they are non-partisan and I will carry their flag at every demonstration. Hell it doesn't even have to be non-partisan just as long as it's not Republicans or Democrats. I call it as I see it, good ole Republican fear mongering to try to get back into power, a wolf in sheeps clothing.

The AIG attacks were bull too, they were deferred payments and they were agreed to by the government, Unconstitutionally going after them to save political face is just as bad as threatening to overthrow the government in my opinion.

Uhhh, the point of these gatherings were to get the word out. And again, if you really believe there was not one single democrat at any of the thousands of the gatherings, I think you need to get out more. Also, I didn't hear anyone claim they were going to overthrow the govt. Care to pint me to a link that says this? All the gatherings I knew of are preaching non-violence. And as far as seceding, I assume you are referring to TX...in which I agree with the Gov. of TX. It's about time the federal govt realises they are not here to control state govt.

And to say "you failed to vote the right person in" is plain BS. How do you get people soaking up all the welfare and benefits, while being encouraged to not make an effort for their future to vote against free handouts? Of course they're gonna vote for the person giving the handouts.

Take a read into our founding fathers........see what they believed, and then come back and tell me how teaching people to feel they deserve free handouts from people who are actually attempting to better themselves is right. They believed that you should feel uncomfortable in your poverty so you have a reason to better yourself. But we're in a system now that people would rather take the handouts and sit back and do nothing rather than work to better themselves.....because that takes effort. and again, this is not just under Obama.

Have you looked at the $ spent since the first TARP? Sounds like plenty of reason to pissed IMO. Not to mention the printing of more money, half of which is lost in the system. Then on top of it, not following thru on pretty much anything that has been promised. And this applies to bush and Obama.

You make me sad, no one ever said that there was not a single Democrat at any one of these demonstration. Care to print me a link where I said that. Quickcav said they are non-partisan, I say they are not. The whole notion of using the words TEA PARTY is in reference to the Boston tea party, which was the start of the American Revolution, why would you use the term tea party if you weren't insinuating you want to throw the current government out and start anew.

I never said that it was not a reason to be pissed, I for one was pissed at the first TARP. So your telling me that the first TARP was ok? Because the way you make it sound there was no reason to be mad until the money they spent after the first TARP. I just asked why people didn't start this tea party stuff at the onset of the bailout mentality.

Ok, so I should have said further damage at the hands of Democrats and Republicans I do agree with that. How can i be partisan if I loathe Democrats and Republicans alike?. My point is that this movement is backed by Republicans for the sole purpose of regaining power, if it truly were a grass roots movement by the people there would not be a single politician involved because after all they are the cause of all this, if you can't see it well thats cool too.
