If we set up surveillance in mosques, then we should set it up in churches and synagogues.

After all, ALL of the Monotheism big 3 have been known to spawn off "terrorists" </sarc>

Don't those nuts who shoot up abortion clinics claim to be doing "the lord's work"?
No matter your opinion on abortion, shooting up a clinic is terrorism.

If our government is going to spy into mosques, then yes it should be "open season" on all religious institutions. Hopefully we'll get new "funniest videos" of politician's confessions...

I forgive you UpstateNY. ACtually Christian arabs/middleeasterners and Christian Jews get along with each other. That's because they are alike in Christ. Not exactly. I was also inferring that Israel is just as bad at misinterpreting different events and help escalate things. Like I said earlier - it takes 2 to fight, be it Israel and Lebanon, or the US versus Iraq, Iran, N. Korea, Afganistan etc. IMO, it's the damn 'eye for an eye' caveman mentality that exists in the middle east that has gotta go before anything even close to peace will happen. I don't know what jbody4jc is going to do if he ever turns off CNN and learns of other religions, like Hinduism, where people worship more than one deity, and where Jesus has nothing to do with it. I can foresee smoke coming out of his ears trying to come to terms with that little discrepancy.

I feel that Israel is justified in their attacks, as was mentioned before if they are not aggressive in defending their county there are those that will take it from them. If Mexico just started to fire rockets into Texas to you think that Bush would listen when the rest of the world told him to calm down and respond calmly? I think not, i think that the US would respond with either an invasion force, an air strike, or a missile up their militarys ass.

Its easy to be high and mighty and say that they aer being unfair and that they should show restraint when it is not your country being bombed.

I know that these views can change based on your religion or opinion but in my opinion many Israeli's probably feel like they have 9/11 going on every week. Civilians are being bombed and they are being punished for attempting to defend Palestinian land years ago.

There is no such thing as doing war half way (unless you count Vietnam) if they don't go all the way they will face increased attacks and retaliation as soon as they heed the demands of the UN and other liberal governments. I tend to be more liberal myself but in this instance I say let them do their thing and handle it as need be. Yes people will die on both sides but it is a war and at least if their is all out war IT WILL END and there will be a winner. The violence may taper off or they may acknowledge each others right to exist.

I'm just sick of all this crap about one country telling another country they are allied with when they can and cannot go to war, that keep prolonging the conflict, especially when it is the US. see the dictionary for the definition of hypocrite.

Remember that the "rocket attacks" that come into Isreal are home mamde rockets that are about as effective as a moltov cocktail.

The "take it easy" advice to Isreal really menas to give an equatable response. So far that have killed many, shut down commerce, destroyed every airport and are in the process of destroying all infrastructure. That seems a bit over the top in response to two kidnapped soldiers and some very ineffective home made rockets.

No, it should not be taken lightly, but whats wrong with targetted attacks against those who are attacking you? Instead they are bombing the crap out of everything, again.

If Mexico threw a couple moltovs across the border would the response be a missle attack against Mexico city? I think not.

Yes and no. Israel biblicly means jews. But there are also Israelies who are not jewish who are indeginous to the land. I had a class with a guy who was Israeli but he was not jewish. There are many non jews who lived through time alongside biblical Israel who were not jews. They just were assimilated into Israel that way.
You never hear of the term Christian jew, it would be messianic jew, or if you are a jew who is born again, you've become a born again christian. Messianic jews practice the law along with the teaching of the new testament of Yeshua, where a jew who is born again does not practice the law, but lives according to the new covenant. Christ definately lived according to the law even though he came to fulfill it. He wore the tzitsa, didn't eat pork, and was rabbinical in every sense of Judaism, Yet he came to change all that and died to replace the temporary old covenant with the new covenant which is permanent. There is a huge ordeal in the christian church today asking if messianic jews are the same as born again christians. ITs a very tough question to whether they are christians.
A jew who practices judaism only looks at the term jew as one to the religioun the judaism only. In reality, judaism is not only a religion, but it is an ethnicity also. I tend to use the term jew ethnicly, and not religiously to spite judaising because I believe jews must be born again as every one else.
I think the big question is, how did the jews of Jesus' time portray him? Obviously not jewish becuase he spoke and believed different to what jews of the law did. But was he jewish, of course. TO the very core of the matter is, if all else fails, ethnicly, Jesus was a jew. They called him a Samaritan to spite him, but he was a jew from judean.
Then again there is a controversy in judaism to whether Jesus being a jew(of biblical israel) was called a jew refering to judea, or the province south of the northern province(biblical israel of that time). It really cannot be asserted because The line of KIng David runs through Judea. And old testament scripture states that Judea is Israel along with the northern province. Another thing is that Jesus' first language was Aramaic, not hebrew, which is the old language that Assyrians spoke before arabic. pharsee, and the many more middle eastern languages that dominate the middel east aside hebrew.

Ok. I understand both sides to this, now a simple question.

If we take that Hezbollah positions, militia and rocket launching pads are in South Lebanon, why is Israel bombing Lebanese infrastructure in and around the capital Beirut? What do Lebanese suburbs have to do with the conflict aside that some Hezbollah bosses LIVE in and around them.

I listened to Lebanese PM last night and guy clearly says - look, our army and country is too weak to expell Hezbollah and cannot do another civil war.

Israelly intelligence chick 5 mins later says that they are bombing Lebanon because Lebanese did not expell Hezbollah in last 2 years. So basically Israel is bombing all those civilians to make Lebanese government attack Hezbollah!!!

Lebanese PM then says - If you, mighty Israel, cannot get rid of Hezbollah and Hamas for past 30 years, how can we do it ???

What do you think?

Bush sent an invasion force, air strikes and missiles over much less to Iraq, so Yes, you're right.

Years ago... Like biblical times. The first two cavemen over there who found rocks immediately started throwing them at eachother, and it hasn't stopped since.

Unfortunately we all know that the US will stick it's nose in this and make it worse. Letting them fight it out on their own is the right choice, but it's not what Bush will do.

Especially since what we've done in Iraq was done without Iraq launching any offensive at the US. Whether they had WMD's or not has been debated ad nauseum in other threads, but there was never any missiles, bombs, bullets or even BB's from Iraq shot at US soil.

My vote is to let Isreal and Lebanon deal with their own problems. My tax dollars need to go for education, so the next generation won't ignorantly follow a fool into battle for nothing.

I'll agree with you on the first half. We could have used that money to do so many good things right here on US soil. ONE TRILLION DOLLARS!!! That is one thousand MILLION dollar bills. Just thinking of how we could have helped the Katrina victims, upgraded the schools across the land, better the quality of living, boosted the economy. It hurts my head just thinking about it.

No turning back now though. We have to finish what we started. As we say in the Army, "Suck it up, and drive on."

I watched a program on the local PBS station a while back about the similarities of Christianity, Judiasm and Islam. Never realised all three religions had so much in common and yet so different, was very interesting. Kinda makes you wonder why they all can't get along but then again with people like Jbody4JC, muslim extremists and judiasm extremists thinking that there is no other true religion it's not hard to see why there are so many religious wars.
What Israel is doing is wrong. They have a right to defend themselves there's no denying that but what they're doing by leveling parts of Lebanon and killing innocents is just plain terrorism just like the Hezbollah. All they are accomplishing is drudging up more hatred for themselves and more trouble for them down the road from surrounding countries. It's just the Hezbollah not the Country of Lebanon that started the war on Israel. For instance That'd be like the USA bombing the crap out of Mexico for say a mexican drug lord firing rockets or grenades into Texas,New Mexico, Arizona or California. You can't blame a whole country for one person or groups actions even if they hold a minority in the government of that country. Now if that person or group was the ruling party of the country that'd be different.

And if the US gets involved, there will be the same kind of attacks against us. We'll have grocery stores blow up from bombs left in frozen foods, car bombs parked in gas stations, random "white powder" envelopes... Just because we've "secured" airports and government offices doesn't mean we're indestructable.

No matter what the outcome, if we butt in with this conflict we're going to get bit on the a$$ hard.

Is that really nessisary. It's war. We signed bombs before we dropped them. It's customary to do that, ever since WWII people have been saying "From the US to Hitler" or "To Saddam with Love".

It's called colareral damage. Children die. It is horrible, but it's unavoidable. I've picked up little dead children. It's horrible. War isn't a frickin walk in the park though.

I just really think it was increadably distasteful for you to put those kind of pictures up like that. Not only is it totally unnessisary, but it is disrespectful to the dead, IMO. I really just don't understand what would drive a person to take such images and flash them all over the internet. Like Isreal planned an air raid to attack a playground and a school yard. Seriously. You may not agree with their policies or anything that has to do with them, but that is just garbage. I hope it get's taken off this post.

No @!#$ there Sherlock. I've lived through war at the age of 7 to11 years. Not as a soldier with a gun like you, but as a helpless kid bombarded by planes just like thousands of kids over there.

Why not? What are we hiding? Maybe some people don't really know that innocent kids are dying. I could bet that 50% of America believes that the middle east is made up of 99% terrorists.

Israel sure is not doing this carefully. They're bombing the @!#$ out of Lebanon. Do you think that they are really worried about collateral damage?

I think it's more disrespectful to look away while all of this is happening. The truth needs to be told, this is the wrong way to continue these attacks.
