Colbert Beats Down Bush at White House Dinner

Anyone see this?

It's freaking brutal to both Bush (who's sitting nearby) and the press. If you think the "liberal media" hasn't been giving Bush a free pass after watching this, you're nuts.

It's also on Comedy Central's website now.

I saw it, but I thought this was much funnier. Also, I thought Colbert could have been much more brutal and more like he is on the Colbert Report than he was here.

He's better at being Bush than Bush is.

I'll give Bush this: at least he can deal with a bit of Roasting.

Agustin: Keep in mind: Colbert isn't a "pundit," he's a comic. His show isn't considered a political show, it's a comedy show.

I wasn't so much amazed at how bad he was putting down bush. I was shocked at what he had to say about other countries. Saying how china makes our Happy Meals possible. It's one thing to joke around about our government but I dunno if I'd have the balls to open make fun of another country. Even if it's in good nature, other countries might not get out sense of humor.

uecavboy: It's a comic roast.. Most people around the world get that bit. Think of the King's Fool in King Lear... same thing except Colbert isn't paid by the court.

Oh no I fully understand he was roasting Bush, which i'm sure he knew about. But te stuff about china and what not. That was pretty rough. I dunno if THEY were also expecting to get slammed. I think it is cool though that people can still take a joke. Even peopel like bush. It's nice to see them let their guard down and laugh a little bit.

He's a comic but what he said was brutally true.

Let's not forget he tore the press probably the worst hole of all. Which is probably none of the networks are really covering it, they don't want anyone to know what he said about them.

They've never covered the press core dinner.

uecavboy: I've been part of a roast (private banquet for a good friend that retired) and getting ripped a new one/taken down a peg or 30/skewered.. etc.. it's part of the fun. It's ripping on the guest of honour, and the only rule is, it has to be funny, and basically, it's got to be funnier as you go along. Check out the Roast of Pam Anderson if you want to see a decent one.

Agustin: it's best to get EVERONE in one fell swoop.

^^

They covered the press core dinner years ago when Don Imus ripped Clinton a new as$hole.

I meant a non-CSPAN broadcaster during the whole dinner.
